The goal of Family Promise is to help homeless families in transition achieve sustainable independence by providing short-term shelter, meals, case management, and hospitality. The families live in the assembly space of each church or community center for a week at a time, shifting to the next location on Sunday morning.
Family Promise is a 99.99% volunteer program (650 volunteers to just 3 employees). They have just completed their first year of operation in the South Bay and have the support of 30 local churches and community organizations.
Las Candalistas is supporting Family Promise by helping them purchase a van that would be used to transport families they serve to and from the host locations where they spend the night and take them to jobs, school or to the Day Center to work on their particular case plans. The van would also be used to transport families during the day to appointments and services as needed. To learn more about Family Promise, click here to watch this video.
