Congratulations to all the hard working Las Candalistas members! On September 17th, 2022, Las Candalistas was the recipient of the annual “Making A Difference Award” at Community’s Child annual gala, held at Los Verdes Golf Course. The award was presented to Las Candalistas co-president Laura Henson (Co-President Debbie Sampson was unable to attend) by George Chen, Mayor of Torrance. Las Candalistas also received service awards from Cindy Segawa, Mayor of Lomita; representatives from Los Angeles Supervisor Janice Hahn; and representatives from Congresswoman Maxine Waters.

These awards are the result of a 7 year and counting relationship with Community’s Child. Community’s Child has been a Top 3 philanthropy recipient of Las Candalistas since 2015. They are consistently  in our Top 3 because the services they provide (Healthy Bags, Covid Response, and now Inflation Relief Program)  are vitally important to the South Bay Community. Las Candalistas shares their belief that ‘no child should go hungry.”

Las Candalistas is honored and touched to receive such accolades and look forward to a continuing partnership with Community’s Child.
