The purpose of Community’s Child is: to end child hunger in our community and improve health, social and academic development; to provide impoverished children & families with the support necessary to acquire successful education and move out of poverty; to provide homeless women & children a safe structured shelter to heal from trauma & obtain the skills to become self-sufficient. Their mission is to transition disadvantaged and homeless children and their families into healthy contributing and valued members of the South Bay Community.
Las Candalistas supports Community’s Child’s Healthy Bags/COVID Response Program and Inflation Relief Program which provides impoverished South Bay children with free weekly nutritious groceries, annual school supplies, laptops and tutoring services, new books, health/dental/vision screenings and services, masks, hand sanitizers, clothing shoes, diapers, and hygiene products, Zoom support, and counseling services. Serves 900-1800 food insecure children per week. The program provides weekly delivery to schools and/or has children or families pick-up nutritious groceries, personal care items, school supplies, and laptops and provides access to counseling and educational programs.
