Manes for Movement’s mission is to help improve function and positively change the lives of children and adults with disabilities using Equine (horse) Assited Therapies and Activities. Currently, they offer a full continuum of services from recreational adaptive horseback riding lessons to medically based therapy interventions, like Hippotherapy, that address functional goals, such as walking, talking, sensory processing, and more. They currently serve children as young as 18 months old through adulthood with a variety of neurodevelopmental, genetic, and psychological diagnoses. Manes for Movement is the only therapeutic riding facility within 40 miles of the South Bay that provides both medically based Hippotherapy and Recreational Adaptive Horseback Riding to the community under the same program roof. In 2021, Manes for Movement provided over 1200 hours of direct service hours to children and adults with disabilities.
Las Candalistas supports their Equine Assisted Therapy and recreational Programming. 2000+ program hours. This current programming includes- 1. Medically based Hippotherapy sessions directed by licensed physical and occupational therapists; 2. Feeding therapy and Assistive Technology training with a licensed occupational therapist; 3. Recreational adaptive horseback riding lessons overseen by a PATH Intl certified therapeutic riding instructor; 4. Ground based therapeutic horsemanship programs; 5. Adaptive Riding Horse Show team that participates in local horse shows and competitions.
