“Thank You! Thank You! Accolades to Las Candalistas for funding the Wyland Foundation Science Lab on Wheels for Arnold Elementary School! We had approximately 200 students (four first grade, three second grade, and one special day class), visit the science lab. Tony Larkin, from the Wyland Foundation, was the consummate host. He arrived the day prior, set the lab up, taught the docents the day of, and managed the experience for all eight classes. I was so impressed with the Wyland Foundation and their commitment to our environment, as well as educating students about the watershed and the impact that pollution has on it. Not only did our local Torrance City News come out to interview us, but we were on KCAL channel 9 news as well (see below). And Torrance Unified will be spotlighting the visit. Once again, our students, parents, and staff cannot thank Las Candalistas enough!” – Kathy Black, Teacher, Arnold Elementary School
Since 2008, the Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Center has brought the latest standards-based education about water quality, water resource availability, and conservation to hundreds of thousands of students, including many schools whose field trips, science and art budgets have been drastically cut. The Mobile Learning Center is a state of the art 1,000 sq. ft. bio-diesel science museum on wheels, features a 40-person multi-sensory theater and seven interactive stations, with classroom lessons tied to state standards, including NGSS. This exhibit is like no other and delivers a museum-quality science experience to explore the many ways the availability and quality of water affect our lives.
